Style Crush: Mia Tyler

Mia Tyler is my style crush this week. Not necessarily for the clothes that she wears but for her confidence and attitude about her body.

When I was in high school, a guy told me that my body type wasn't good enough for him, that he liked a body like Liv Tyler's better. Sounds silly but I can relate to Mia and having to be compared to someone else, like her sister Liv. And like her, I have learned to love myself and others for who they are and not what they aren't.

"I want everyone to stop judging others, stop hating, and realize we are all beautiful in our own ways. We shouldn't have to answer to anyone who thinks otherwise. Therefore we mustn't all be the same kind of person. I want everyone to just be themselves and tell anyone who says otherwise to screw off." - Mia Tyler

Legend of the Guardians

I couldn't get out of the house fast enough on Saturday to see "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'hoole"! Hello! A movie about owls, I am there. First, I took some "outfit" pictures while waiting for the mister to get home from work.

Tunic Dress: Target
Leggings: Torrid
Booties: Target
Cat: Sandy

But back to the movie. I was a little bias going in. I would probably like the movie even if it was bad just because of the novelty of there being owls in it. But I have to say that the movie was actually done very well.

The story and imagery were equally beautiful. These screenshots don't do it justice. The owls moved and talked in a way that made sense for owls. I really appreciated the realistic details, especially for CGI animation.

Even if you are not owl crazy like me, you will love this film. I didn't feel like I was watching a movie for kids too much. It had a lot of substance and even a couple of scary parts.

"Yay! I'm standing in front of a huge owl!"

So overall, I was thrilled with the movie! I would see it again and there may be some reading of the book series in my future.

P.S. If you go to see the movie, stay for the credits. There is some cute "cut-out" style animation playing at the end that I really enjoyed.

Music Monday: Sick Day Playlist

"Tea with Mussolini"
This week's playlist is brought to you by the sniffles, hacks and pajamas. I stayed home from work today and rotated between either napping, watching TV or watching the mister play videogames.

Well, I have some tea in order! Lots of honey please, honey.

Etsy Shop Has Reopened!

Usually, I post on Sunday about the things I love. But I have a cold and have been working away on my Etsy shop and honestly have nothing! But I am very happy with how my cards look now and I have some neat vintage items for sale too. So that is what I am loving today.

I have some awesome blog posts planned for this week, I promise! Hope everybody had a wonderful weekend.

Getting to Know Me

Me today

I read this article this week about "Caring for Your Introvert". Of course, it is supposed to be taken in a satirical spirit but it did ring true for me. I don't consider myself a very outgoing person and I am okay with that! But sometimes, other people see it as something being wrong. It gets tiring trying to convince people that I am happy. Well, I am! Even though I didn't pass Olive Garden's bazillion page personality test when I applied there, I have people skills. I am not chit-chatty but I show that I care in my own way. Whether it is with a thoughtful gift or a batch of yummy cupcakes.

Working with people all day long also makes my "me and the hubby" time even more valuable. We are definitely two peas in a pod and spend most of our time just me and him. I would like to start a crafting night though and get some girlfriend time in too. I'll add that to my simple goals and see where it takes me! Now you know a little more about Rachele.

Purple Balloon and Kittehs

Hope you like lots of cat pictures! Look at that tongue! I love that she sleeps with her tongue sticking out. It is so adorable. I used to get really annoyed by Wednesday because she has so much more energy than our first cat. Now she isn't so hyper and I am more amused by it. In love with that mischievous kitty now.

Never wake a sleeping kitty, or she will attack your balloon! (My dress is wrinkly from sitting at the office all day)

And then glare at you from the corner when you don't let her shred it to pieces.

I was lucky and got photos of Marie where she doesn't look asleep. I love the fluff on her chest.

My husband recently found much better eye drops for her and she looks a thousand times better now.

The queen of the house.

They gave me a balloon at work so I went home and took photos with it. C'mon, it matched my outfit!

You may (or maybe not) noticed that my Etsy is on "vacation." I am rethinking some of my cards. I especially wanted to make my card fold more crisp and professional. My little shop will be back soon, filled with beautiful handmade cards and some lovely vintage items. Sorry for the false grand opening! I am a perfectionist.
