Music Monday: Pomplamoose

I first heard Pomplamoose when I listened to their cover of Lady Gaga's Telephone. I love their quirky indie take on popular music and classics. A band, and real life couple, whose presence is mostly online, I was surprised to see them and hear them in some new holiday car commercials. But pleasantly surprised. Nataly Dawn's sweet vocals combined with Jack Conte's (and her) multi-instrumental talent make the group's lovely sound. They also have a distinct style in their YouTube videos, showing the recording process weaved together. From Wikipedia: "Their videos mostly take the form of "VideoSongs", a medium Jack Conte defines with two rules: What you see is what you hear. (No lip-syncing for instruments or voice) If you hear it, at some point you see it. (No hidden sounds)"

Nataly moved to France at the age of 10 and speaks French. Watch and listen to their cover of La Vie en Rose.

Beautiful cover of Mister Sandman.

And a little holiday spirit.

You can get their Christmas album here, with the donation of a book. I sent New Moon, because I think every public school should have the Twilight Saga fully stocked ;) I hope you are as smitten as I am!

10 Things I Love Sunday

1. Kittehs dressed up.

2. This is how I look around the house when nobody is looking :)

3. Aw!

4. I thought kittehs were supposed to be nocturnal. They sure do hog the bed!

5. Kissing fall leaves goodbye.

6. It's true.

7. More kittehs.

8. Will be watching Mermaids tonight, thanks to Little Ocean Annie's post.

9. I have a little collection, including a lamp.

10. Oxfords. I have been trying to find them local or used and could not, so I just ordered them from Target.

P.S. Sorry to cause confusion. These are things I love and not necessarily my own. The picture is a link to the source.

Eat, Love, Poop

What a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend so far! Happy to be spending time with my mister and see family. We went to a German restaurant with my parents on Thanksgiving Day and then today we went to his parents for leftovers.

I brought over my Tofurky. It came out tasty! There is stuffing in the middle of the loaf. I baked it with carrots, onion, potatoes, garlic, rosemary and thyme. I basted it with olive oil and Goddess dressing from Trader Joe's. It sliced up nicely and went perfectly with all the delicious sides and mushroom gravy. Then we slouched in our chairs, with maybe a button unbuttoned or two and looked and old photos of my mister and his parents. I took photos of some of them with my cell phone.

My mother-in-law's senior pictures.

My favorite photo.

Glo Worm! I remember having one of these too.

The boy apparently never had pants on.

Look at my mother-in-law's glasses! They are great.

That's him on the right, always a Ghostbuster. Even as an adult :)

Pooping! Hehe, I got permission first!

Hope you are all having a lovely holiday weekend. Even if you are not somewhere that celebrated, I hope you are eating well anyway! Now I am going into a Tofurky coma....

Style Crush: Cass Elliot

Mama Cass had a beautiful voice and wore bright colors and large prints to match. Styles from the 60's and 70's are becoming a favorite of mine. I love the earthy colors and textures, with a pop of color or a daring accessory.
