We had a lovely relaxing holiday weekend at my parent's beach house on the Oregon Coast. Of course we started out with antiquing along the way!
(Sorry, if you follow me on Twitter then you have already seen these photos!) The above photo was reposted by the official MyTubo (Instagram-like community for Android) which I was really excited about! I took it at the Bonanza Antique Mall. I really like how they filled the milk bottles with styrofoam pellets to look like milk.
Kodak Instamatic and kitty tea towels. The tea towels tell the story of boy kitty meets girl kitty and gets married. Then the clock below and pyrex dish caught my eye.
Owl salt and pepper shakers. You can also see the sun shining through the window. We didn't have perfect weather but it wasn't bad for Oregon.
I found this little ship at Goodwill before we left and gave it my parent's for their beach house. My dad would love to fill up the house with them but my mom isn't too keen on knick knacks. So I sneak ships over there. My house is like knick knack central so that anti-knick knack gene must skip a generation. I love the little orange flags and bright blue paint.
Some mushrooms were growing in the grass in the backyard. Of course, as soon as we took notice of the mushrooms the dog was suddenly aware of them and wanted to eat them all. We chased him around, pulling them out of his mouth as much as we could. He didn't get sick so thankfully, they are harmless.
I made a bloody mary, which I don't like very much but thought I would try. At least it was pretty! I also made cosmos and other drinks. I made us shrimp cocktails and a salmon scramble with onions and peppers and spicy home fries. I was the cook/bartender last weekend.
Here is the aforementioned dog! Domino is my parent's shihtzu and has turned out to be the very sweetest. Remember when he was really
small? He followed us around the whole time, waiting outside the bathroom when we took a shower and scratched at our bedroom door so we would wake up and play with him.
We also listened to Beach Boys records that the mister picked up for my dad.
And the beach! It is only a few blocks from the house and was so beautiful. We didn't pay attention to the tide tables that night and the ocean was up to the rocks so we didn't go down on the beach.
This is Depoe Bay, which is a little south of where we were staying.
We marvelled at the ship coming in and through the narrow passage.
An anchor with flowers from the Festival of Flowers that was held that morning.
The tidepools were really pretty. Believe it or not, there were squirrels running around the rocks below. I can't figure out if they are in their natural habitat or only hang out there looking for food and people to feed them peanuts. There was a lady there with a squirrel on her shoulder, eating nuts. He crazily grabbed the nuts out of her hands. I hate to see what happens when she runs out of nuts!
They have some of the best candy and taffy there. We also got caramel corn. Yum!
By the time we got back home, this is what the mister looked like ;)
