Winter Beach Trip: Aquarium

It had been almost 10 years since we visited the Oregon Coast Aquarium last and I was aching to go when we visited the beach the other weekend. It isn't on the cheap side but it was a perfect activity for a rainy day. Part of the aquarium is outdoors but there is still plenty to look at inside. The outdoor creatures, like the otters, were not out and about that day anyways. I love all the colors and that you can even touch some of it, like the sea anemones.

You can click on a photo to view it larger!

It was a bit of challenge taking photos through the thick aquarium glass but I am happy with the ones I was able to shoot. It was a great way for me to learn my new camera as I had to change the shutter speeds and other settings to catch those quick fishies!

Shark! There was also jellyfish but they deserve their own post because I made a little video of them too.

P.S. The winner of the custom drawing is Erica, congrats!
I will be emailing you soon!

ah I haven't been to that aquarium yet since I moved up here. It looks like a good one! definitely on my mini road trip list! Great pics, I know it's hard to catch 'em when they're swimming by!

These photos are incredible! I didn't know it was even possible to take such lovely aquarium photos. I love aquariums - I could sit and watch fish for hours!

p.s. I can't wait to see the jellyfish video. Do you know the marine life films of Jean Painlevé (shot in 30s)?

Haha! That's how I felt there too.

You'll love it! It is not huge and fancy but they treat their animals right and it's not like the scary ones where you can feed the seals in Seaside.
