Quite a few weekends ago, we went to one of our favorite neighborhoods. Downtown Milwaukie has something for every nerd and vintage lover. They have an antique collector's mall, comic book shop and the headquarters of Dark Horse Comics. The collectors mall still has a vintage soda fountain and the stool that John F. Kennedy sat on before he was president when visiting the area in the 60's. We didn't get anything to eat or drink this time but we will have to go back so I can take photos of the soda fountain. The collectors mall has tons of stuff to look at. I didn't take anything home with me this time but still enjoyed poking around. They are more junk store, which I like because things are usually cheaper and include items from the 70's which aren't usually at antique stores.
And because they are on nerd row, there are plenty of 80's toys and collectables that the mister loves. He could spend hours in there looking for a much-needed Ghostbuster action figure or that missing piece of his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle collection. You get the idea. He is in heaven.
We enjoy our weekend outings, even if we don't go far!
We ended the evening with yummy Mexican food. Mmmm...horchatas.
