We are usually pretty low-key when it comes to holidays. But I do like venturing outside for Independence Day to eat some food, drink beer and play with fireworks. It is more of a celebration of the first day of summer for us and a little anniversary. We made our first moves on each other on Fourth of July, 13 years ago. Then we decided to be girlfriend and boyfriend 16 days later. I was 16. Did you get all those numbers?
We felt like rebels going to the park with our dinner and beer and hanging out until 10:45. The park was pretty empty except for a big family BBQing by the picnic tables. They must have been there a while because by the time we settled down, the men were singing along to Adele. It was hilarious!
We had a perfect view of all the fireworks nearby. Everybody else goes to a different park or downtown Portland for the big shows so we had the whole entire grass of the park to ourselves. We sat back and watching people blow hundreds of dollars on fireworks.
We also had some of our own leftover from last year.
And lit up a few on the ground!
Hope y'all had a good 4th of July or Canada Day!
For everyone else, just enjoy the pretty lights.

Looks alike a fun and romantic dinner. I love fireworks but they're prohibited in Nevada. Don't want to catch the whole state on fire.
Looks like you two had a blast! Happy Making Moves Anniversary to you both!
Awesome photos of the two of you with fireworks!! It looks like you had a delicious meal and an even more delicious evening!
What a lovely evening you must have had.
I always love sparkler photos.

ooh cool sparklers shots!
So these pictures are great and all that but I'm really curious about that blanket you're sitting on, did you make that? :)
Your food looks good! Well, if I ate meat anyway ;) A couple of my friends and I went to a little park for a small display as well. I can't stand going further into Seattle for the big displays. I went to the Space Needle one year for New Year's celebrations and the traffic getting home was so horrific that I swore I'd never do it again.
It looks like y'all had a very nice 4th :) I love sparklers!!
Nice! My hun and I spent it with family. We had ribs, bratwurst, all kinds of goodies! It was a semi-perfect evening (except for his niece stepped on a still hot sparkler, poor thing). Glad you enjoyed the 4th too! And congrats on 13 years with the mister! :D
The firework pictured are so cool, love how mysterious little things like this can look on a picture.
what a great way to celebrate! i love your striped shirt, you look fantastic and it really looks great with your hair :) we did sparklers too! i haven't played with sparklers in forever! it was so much fun, i felt like my little niece who was squealing with joy the entire time! glad you had a great 4th!

Love sparklers! And this looks like so much fun!
great photos!
looks like a pretty great fourth of july! i had to work late so we didn't see any fireworks.
Bummer :( Same thing as last year though!
Sparklers are all I am interested in. They bring me joy too!
I changed my camera settings so that I could capture some of the light trails :)
Ouch! Hope she is ok!
Thank you! We are still quite happy :D
I am pescetarian so just shrimp and veggie burgers for me :)
Haha, thanks for being honest ;) Nope, I have no such patience. I thrift all my afghans. It is a winner! It is usually on our bed.
Thanks!
We did indeed!
Haha, I like that!
I didn't realize that! That is probably best with all the expensive real estate and casinos so close together and I couldn't image the chaos if everyone on the strip was shooting off fireworks.
