I'm back with part two of our house tour! Here is the mister's desk and his many collections of toys and video games. The arcade cabinet doesn't have any guts but it is hooked up to emulators and systems so you can basically play any game on the TV inside.
I was trying to get Wednesday to pose somewhere else so she is looking at me like I am crazy here. Apparently, she will only model on her terms.
And this is my desk. It has become somewhat neglected and a dumping ground for things I need to do or take care of. It is an organized mess! My only surviving plant right now is the cactus on the far right (can you spot it?). We just don't get enough sun with all the trees around our house, but strangely that little cactus has held on.
You can see an old photo of my grandma in a bikini and my favorite photo of my grandpa here. I also have some vintage paint by number kits stashed back here. One day I will have time to complete them!
And if you turn around, there is the kitchen!
I have been incorporating lots of useful owls in the kitchen.
We got our kitchen chairs and desk chairs at Ikea. Like a lot of our furniture, the table is a hand-me-down. My motto is usually not to fix something if it isn't broken. So we still use a lot of the same furniture that we got 10 years ago.
Whoa! Messy dishes! Who would post that on their blog?!?! Me! We both work full-time jobs and sometimes the dishes get behind. Some of the dishes by the sink are from the thrift store and waiting for their turn in the dishwasher before we use them.
The clock above the sink was my grandmother's. The painting above the TV and this clock were both fixtures in her house for 40 years. I am told she bought them both new at Sears on credit when she first moved in her house. It makes me happy to keep enjoying them for her.
I keep the bedroom pretty simple. I figure I spend most of my time in here in the dark asleep so I don't hang up as much. Plus I like keeping it somewhat serene. The Eiffel Tower was the original theme so we have Eiffel Towers for lamps. The cherry blossoms above the bed are plastic gold and I spray painted them black.
I recently thrifted two floral vintage fabric suitcases, completely intact! Usually, when I spot them, the zipper is broken so I feel lucky to have them. Marie likes to sit here and listen to Wednesday in the closet. They definitely follow each other around more than any of the three cats.
The closet is where I keep most of my clothes. There is a little overflow in bins. I could probably use a whole room for all my clothes! I have my vintage scarf collection hanging behind the door.
Our bathroom. The blinds are like that all through the house because the cats like to sit on the window sills. The times we have forgotten to put them up, they have busted their heads through! Cats are the official blind destroyers.
I keep my Avon owl collection here.
We like our little one bedroom cottage in the suburbs. We are tucked away behind houses and it is always quiet since we are away from the street and people passing by. We call it our sanctuary or sometimes our bat cave. I am lucky to have someone that I feel like two peas in a pod with, so we share our little space with no problems. I like how our styles and hobbies compliment each other. We could easily stay home for days and not be bored! I hope you enjoyed the tour of our cozy and teeny home.

What a great place! SOOOOO much style, just like you :) Thanks for sharing! xoxo
It was so fun to see all of your various nooks and crannies. Although it's nice to have more space, I think there is a lot to be said for a small cozy home as well and it looks like you've done well with yours. :)
Love ur home. So inspiring!

Everything is so cute!
Your house looks so cozy! It looks like guests would never want to leave! So cute!
Your home looks warm and inviting. Your cats are georgeous.
Your little home is so cute! You have a great eye - it's vintage without looking like it's "The Brady Bunch" set, you know? (Although no hatin' here on anyone who wants a full-on Brady Bunch reproduction ;D)
cute! i love that you are showing us a NORMAL house that people actually live in! ha! my sink is usually full of dishes too. you have so much cute stuff!
Ohmygosh...my mister is totally jealous of your mister's space. I'm jealous! I feel like we channel the same happy-bright-super-colorful-ness when we decorate... :) It's lovely to see!
I love that you put your dirty dishes pictures up! Dirty dishes are a major part of every household I've ever been to! Your house is absolutely freakin' adorable. I love every inch of it.
Exactly! It is rare that we have every dish put away and clean. We eat at home which is good! Plus, if all the dishes were clean there is barely enough room in the cupboards for them so we have to keep some in the sink ;)
Haha, he usually has that effect on other guys. He has so many toys!
No kidding, my house doesn't look like a magazine! It is lived in and that's the way I like it. I could totally relate to your getting to know me post about not being big on cleaning the house.
I would love for my house to look like the Brady Bunch LOL! But then it would be a sort of museum and not much fun to live in.
Thank you! We sure like it.
Wahoo! Now how do I get Johnny Depp in my house....
Thanks!
Yay for small spaces! You have to be creative to get things to fit and work. I am so used to it that I don't think about it but people come over and they are like "I would kill my husband if we lived in such a small place!".
Thank you!
Things I wish I had would be a bigger closet and maybe a attic or basement to hide and store things. But we have lived without those things for 9 years so I have gotten used to it! I like our cozy little house. It is easy to vacuum :)
Aw thanks! I am glad you enjoyed it.
Haha, yes she is very very fluffy. She is mostly hair and just a teeny skinny thing under it all.
Such an adorably unique, cozy place! Just what a home should be. I love your owl collection!
Your home is ADORABLE! such interesting ways to display the collections! Im always trying to display those without looking like a hoarder :3 Keep up the good work!
your mister's desk is like my mister's!!!! like so much! haha and I love your bathroom counter! I don't know if that's weird haha.
I freakin love your home! :D It looks so cozy! You gave me so many ideas on how to display all my cool stuffs. Must invest in shelves.... Haha I can't wait to move in with my man to start creating our space and to have all our things mingling together n__n Thanks for letting us visit! <3
I LOVE your house and my house would be similar if my husband didn't say things like, "Do we have to display ALL of that? It's so cluttered." He'd like bare walls and bare table, but I'm a thrift/70's decor junkie so we compromise. It's hard living with someone you love dearly but is pretty much the complete opposite of you...
Your home feels like a perfect sanctuary, cozy and comfy and full of little things to explore. I always thought I needed to be "clutter-free" as I have random things, magazines or paper lying around a lot and do not like to throw things out and I can so relate to Sarah´s post below. My partner is very organized and has everything in shelves, boxes or places where there is not much displayed. I love to decorate things, have all kinds of pictures, drawings and writings as a collage on my wall and for me it really was process of understanding that it is okay to collect, to display art and not have it all super neat and in order. I should totally cut out the term clutter out of my vocab and start being fine with the way I like to live. But compromising with someone on interior design, furniture and decoration of a house can be (not always has to but it can) strenuous. I enjoyed the little tour of your house a lot, Rachele. It gives me a chunk of inspiration!
