Fat Fashion Day: Savvy Plus and Size Queen Clothing

I'm back with the rest of our Fat Fashion Day! Our next stop was Savvy Plus on the east side of Portland. They had a lot of classic pieces and you could easily pull together a pin-up style outfit after shopping there. I didn't buy anything because I was trying to keep under budget and looking for some very specific things. (Peterpan collar dress!) But I will definitely remember to come back!

They also had some fancy hats and headpieces.

Kesley looked fantastic in this coat and went home with it.

Then we were off to our last stop, Size Queen!

Size Queen is run by Bertha Pearl, pictured below. She makes all the clothing, like adorable playsuits, hooded capelets, skirts, dresses and lingerie and in plus sizes up to 8XL. She make the cutest playsuits in vintage fabric and I will have to come back when she has more in stock around springtime.

Leathia looking adorable. She was our other organizer.

Bertha was working on this amazing suit in vintage upholstery fabric. I could die!

Some examples of her other work.

We were greeted with more treats!

This is most of our group, posing with Bertha in front of her store. I wish we could do this every weekend! Although my pocketbook would not agree. We all became fast friends! I think it helped that we started out with the clothing swap and changing in front of each other. Ha! Everybody was super encouraging and excited when somebody found something. There was a lot of "You HAVE to buy that!" and "It was made for you!".

I ended up with 3 dresses and a top from Fat Fancy, a skirt from Size Queen and a button, nail polish and bracelet from the goody bag. Not to mention a new group of friends, which was the best part!

One of my favorite sub-genres of 'Hipster' (up there with red headed dudes with mustaches) is 'plus-sized lady with a non-traditional hair color'.
You and your friends are super cute.
Thank you for filling my daily quota of adorable.

This looks like SO MUCH FUN!!! I love getting together in person with those I share interests with. It's always so refreshing to interact offline! I'm glad you ladies had a great, supportive, shopping filled time!

It blows my mind that anything size 12 and above is considered "plus". I love that there are shops dedicated to ladies of all sizes though. Just because Ive got myself a lovely little belly going on doesn't mean I want to wear mom jeans until I choke. http://grimmricksen.blogpsot.com
