OOTD: Purple People Eater

How do you like my new pose? This is my "I have arms!" pose. This summer has been the summer of getting over all my insecurities. One of them being showing my arms and wearing something sleeveless without a cardigan sweater. It was a strange insecurity. Because I didn't think my arms were too big. I just had this fear of showing skin and couldn't get used to the idea of how I looked with bare arms. Like I was addicted to layering and couldn't let go of my 90's instinct to wear as many as I could. Obviously, this is not an issue anymore! But I am not lying when I say I can't wait for cooler weather to see some of those layers return.

dress : thrifted
shoes : thrifted
brooch : gift
glasses : firmoo
lipstick : covergirl lipperfection in "flame"

The majority of my dresses (and all my clothes) are thrifted these days. Which is pretty amazing if I do say so myself! Because we go to the thrift store at least once a week, I am able to spot them all the time. I didn't try this one on and could just tell it would fit me perfectly. The wrinkle-free fabric is also a big bonus. Thrifting most of my clothes makes me happy because it so much cheaper and I like the idea that I am recycling and supporting an organization that helps people in need and provides with them with job skills.

I am purple now! I had some leftover purple from when I put purple layers in my red. I bleached it and put the purple over some remnants of red. I like that it turned out with some different tones and dimensions. Sometimes it looks maroon and sometimes it looks very blue-ish purple. I was going to strip my color first but I decided that the colors were similar enough that I would just see how it turns out. Voila!

You may be able to tell her that my pinky is a little well, pink. That's because I use it to put on my lipstick. Secrets revealed! I also never pluck my eyebrows anymore or put mascara on my bottom lashes. I save so much time.

What brand of dye did you use??  It looks fabulous!

Thanks! I used Splat in Lusty Lavender. It is a boxed kit that comes with bleach. You can buy it at Target and Rite Aid and probably lots of other places.

I was watching Rocky Horror yesterday and Columbia's hair made me think of you. This comment no longer applies since it isn't red anymore, but I thought I would share anyway. Love the purple!

ohhh the hair looks good!  I am trying to get back to blue myself.  Right now I am an orange/amber color, so I'm thinking of putting pink in, then purple, then blue and seeing how it transitions each time I dye it.

I have a problem with showing my arms too, but have been getting bold in my dressing.  You Go Girl!!

Yay! I know some hair stylists hate when people cut their own hair and dye it at home...but I am too broke and nitpicky to give it up. So it means a lot to me when a hair stylist says it looks good!

Rachele said...

Ooo, can't wait to see! Sounds purty!

Aw thanks! I guess I didn't see them as ugly, just felt weird and naked and insecure about showing them. Sort of silly!
