Day in Photos Continued

This is the rest of the weekend that I started sharing here. We started Sunday with a big breakfast at Pig'n Pancake, bought chocolate and caramel corn to take home and then spent the rest of the day at the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

We totally fell for the plot the aquarium had for us to spend money. Every machine and activity had a credit card machine attached to it! But I do enjoy the aquarium and feel good about supporting the work they do to protect animals and educate. We flattened a penny and took photobooth photos.

And now on to the critters...

This turtle isn't real.

I love all the beautiful colors! I don't spend very much time reading or learning what things are. I wish I had though because I have no idea what some of the stuff is. Next time!

This crab was dancing around for us.

These two crabs were going around and around the edge of the tank.

Mr. Shrimpy!

This is the tank where you can touch everything. The employee said that all the creatures have been in there since they opened and none of them have died! Probably because they are so pampered and not bothered at all by the poking, compared to the crashing of waves they would experience in the wild. He also said that they don't close up when you touch them because they are just so used to it.

This looks like something from Beetlejuice!

This crab was coming out of a hole in the rock.

My favorite part was watching the sea lions being fed. The trainers have them do a lot of tricks to keep them active and they are able to interact with them so they can examine their health. So they were jumping up on the rocks, diving into the water, shaking hands with the trainer, rolling around and just being freaking adorable. It was amazing that the sea lions were able to react so precisely to their hand signals. She would point and they would stop immediately and with one flick of her hand, they would jump up on the edge. Too bad it was raining! Being the Oregonian I am, I had an umbrella with me but it was hard to take pictures through the raindrops on the glass.

This otter was busy cleaning!

And the jellyfish. The most magical part.

This bird thinks he is the shit.

You can see more photos from our previous trip to the aquarium here!

I would hate for one to brush against my leg in the ocean but they are perfect behind glass! They are mesmerizing to watch.

This looks like so much fun - except that I am TERRIFIED of sea creatures. Pig'n Pancake, though? Yes, please! Great name.

My husband and I ate at Pig'n Pancake during our honeymoon trip the Oregon Coast! As a Bellinghamster recently relocated to Dallas, I miss the ocean so, so much!
