OOTD: Birthday Girl

So I finally got off my lazy butt and starting using my for realsies camera again for outfit photos. Yay! Real colors. So now you can really see my brown roots. I think I am going to let it go for a little bit longer so that I can redo the purple again. I sort of like the imperfect grungy punk girl look. Plus, the color doesn't bleed anymore and that's nice too.

I wore this for my birthday on Friday. I decided to try a short haired beehive and have been doing my hair this way since. Love! I really should get a hairspray sponsor because I use that shit and I have the sticky bathroom floor to prove it. I also would like to point out this dress is originally from Forever 21. It is a little lowcut in the bosom area for the office but my handy dandy crocheted peter pan collar fixed that! I am going to do a shop update post soon but I have to say that I have been wearing my collars every day. The more I wear them, the softer they get. They cling to my clothing and work with a variety of outfits. With this dress I pulled it down and used a cardigan to tie together the look. Sometimes I pull it down in the back for dresses that have a higher collar. I like that I can play with it to make it work with different outfits. If something is especially tricky, I can easily add a few safety pins, but I haven't had to yet!

Oh, and for my birthday, the mister took me to Vita Cafe. They have the best vegetarian and faux meat dishes I have ever tasted. Buffalo Things, BLT with fakon and the Philly Cheese "Steak" are our favorites! Then we went to the movies and watched Cloud Atlas, which I enjoyed. It reminded me of Avatar. You can be an immature jerk and make fun of it or you can force yourself to really think about the story and message of the movie. I loved it. I liked the sappy parts and the action scifi parts. My advice is not to force yourself to understand it and just take it in.

Wow, I'm 30!
Let's all watch Sex and the City and talk about how true all of it is. Not...

A belated happy birthday to you, sounds like you had an amazing day. I'm so excited about Cloud Atlas, I read the book last year and adored it, I really hope the film does it justice. Love this outfit, such great Autumny colours xo

So glad you had a happy birthday - & looked adorable doing it! I've yet to try the Peter Pan collar trend because I don't know that I have enough tops for them to work well with, but this makes me want to try...

I don't know if you realize this or not, but that little dot of your natural roots makes your hair look like a Poppy flower. Very cool!

How funny! I can't possibly dye it now!

Thanks Mari! My modeling technique is very sophisticated and serious ;)

I have been wearing mine with everything. As long as I doesn't already have a collar, I can make it work. I even put one on over a dress with a ruffly top and it worked! https://www.etsy.com/listing/114278200/white-medium-peter-pan-collar-crocheted

Happy happy fall! I didn't read the book but I have heard with the movie you have to read in between the lines a lot more. Of course that is pretty normal with adaptations.

It's pretty much all orgasms and rolling your eyes at people in their twenties...so you'll like it :)

Thanks! It was one of those outfits formed from grabbing from the top of the pile.

Gorgeous outfit! I love the dress & cardi, and I reckon it's so cool that your crochet collar goes with everything! I can't get enough of that adorable little collar!

P.S. Happy late birthday! I'll watch Sex and the City with you - it's always fun to watch really bad movies & make really bad jokes about them. ;)
