Happy Leap Day

Happy Leap Day everyone! What did you do with your extra day? I went to work, it snowed a little, read Hunger Games, watched TV, blogged, drew, ate dinner and later I will probably play Words With Friends in bed and read more. Pretty exciting stuff!

I also wanted to mention that tomorrow Google Friend Connect will no longer be support by non-Blogger blogs and I am not sure how that will affect The Nearsighted Owl. I suppose we will find out! Just to be sure, here are the different ways to subscribe and follow. As always, there is a subscribe link at the top of my blog. Thank you!

World's Best Night in the World!

Seeing Leslie Hall on her Destination Friendship Tour last weekend was seriously awesome. I am having a hard time expressing the joy I experienced. I screamed like it was The Beatles coming on to that stage. I sang along to all the songs until my voice was hoarse and I shook my booty. I am still watching all her videos on a daily basis and I may have purchased every single item available in her store. If I had to explain why I love Leslie Hall so much, I think I would say that she is an example of how women can be confident, goofy, talented and quirky. She doesn't degrade herself or her size. She is like the opposite of Zooey Deschanel. While I love me a indie movie with that little doe-eyed pixie, I get tired of the helpless cutesy girl shtick. Nothing stands in Leslie's way of being the gem sweater stretchy pants midwest diva that she is and I guess that she reminds me not to let anything stand in my way either! She inspires me to be a better and truer version of myself.

Now on to the photos from the show!

My mister and some of the junior gems dressed up.

There was lots of DJ's and dancing fun-time.

Mmmm...and vegan gravy fries!

Me, a few gin and tonics later and ready to bounce, bounce!

Pennyhawk and Ramona & the Swimsuits also played. They are mostly composed of Leslie and the Lys band members. This review of the show describes it best. I am pretty sure nobody there noticed that it was Leslie Hall behind the drums in Pennyhawk. She was very quiet and not "in character".

I am assuming that while Ramona & the Swimsuits played, Leslie was teasing her hair, applying bright pink lipstick and blue eyeshadow, and squeezing into some gold spandex. We couldn't wait!

Here she is!

Tiger heads!

The drummer's cape was awesome. It was sequined with Leslie's face on it.

There was even a gem sweater contest!

We accidentally stumbled out the back door but I am glad we did, because I got to see the tour van. Love it!

Haha, best tour van ever. I thank you for listening to me gush over her and I hope you fall for her too! You can read my introduction to her here. The mister has already been pulled into her magic. It was inevitable.

Aisha, Angie and Jenna

Aisha

Aisha commissioned her portrait for her new blog. She hasn't gone live yet but hopefully we'll see her on the interwebs soon! Angie and Jenna are two of my sweet sponsors. One you have seen before but she was a stinker and dyed her hair black right after I finished it ;) Anywho, I am finishing up a commission that involves a cute little doggie and I can't wait to finish it. Then I have five more sponsors to draw. I am telling all of you this so those five people read it and know that I haven't forgotten about them. I really could have used a clone when I was sick! I also wrapped up another commission this month that I am really excited to share. But I must wait for her to announce it first. The suspense!

OOTD: Leslie and the Lys

"what's wrong with always being right" shirt : thrifted
cardigan : thrifted
skirt : torrid
leopard print leggings : torrid
flats : payless
cat necklace : jaclyn rose embroidery

This is what I wore to the Leslie and the Lys show on Saturday! It was really the best night ever, but more on that later. I picked things from my closet and thrifted a little to achieve my outfit idea.

I really love this skirt and will probably wear it a lot more. I love anything with pockets! I don't understand why women's clothes don't have more pockets. I vote for more pockets.

I cut the neck off my tee shirt. I do this to my shirts for two reason. One: It is a lot more comfortable! A snug shirt that feels like it is choking me all of sudden has some breathing room. Two: Shows my tattoos.

I even shaved my legs a little. Well, at least the part that was showing! I am not fond of shaving. I wonder if you would all want to know about that? Or maybe it is TMI? I think hairy pits are sexy. Anybody else with me?

Winter Beach Trip: Tidbits #2

Hanging out in the back yard and coloring with my niece. We are the ones with the blue glasses - Rachele and Kuchis! Dogs instead of cats, the boys just finished fixing the fence and my favorite dish, bouillabaisse.
