“No. Most people who are fat are less healthy than they should be. Obesity is one of the most urgent public-health threats today. Being overweight raises your risk for virtually every major illness: heart disease, type 2 diabetes, chronic arthritis and most cancers. When researchers at the American Cancer Society followed one million people for 16 years, they found the higher their body mass index, or BMI, the higher their risks of breast, uterine, stomach and liver cancers. Experts are still debating whether obesity takes years off your life; it most certainly takes life out of your years, making everyday things—biking, running for a bus, even shopping—more difficult. The point is, if you want to be vital and active now and into your future, you’re far better off maintaining a healthy weight.”

— David Katz, M.D., director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center.

HOW can you possibly deny that being fat is bad for you!

Just came across this image on reddit: http://i.imgur.com/LqYrIzU.jpg

Honestly lady, have you ever had an X-ray? It will probably look a lot like the one you see in the posted image. I'm a bit of a dick in that I don't really give a shit if I hurt your feelings since I'm never going to meet you and have to face whatever emotional outburst you might be subject to, but I think it's wrong that you spread stupid misinformation like the image that is the subject of your post. Obesity is a serious issue and you shouldn't be encouraging people to feel comfortable as unhealthy gluttons.

You mention daydreaming, sucking it in, and staring at the mirror. No mention of trying a health diet and exercise. Modern society has created an obesity epidemic to which you are part of. You should not encourage people to accept being unhealthy. You may argue this is how you were born to be, but unless we humans are evolving to become fatter, its more that you were born into a society where its accepted by people and somewhat encouraged by industry. I am skinny as a stick and people always give me a hard time, but I know that I am healthy and have accepted my body for what it is, although I do lift and swim to improve my weight. I could force feed myself junk to gain weight, or go on a "beer diet" to which people have recommended me, or I could continue eating healthy and exercising. You should probably look at the image of you floating around with the harsh wording not as a personal attack, but a motivational message to get healthier. You could try swimming starting twice a week and eat more vegetables and less grains. Most people will really respect someone who is out to improve their health more than someone who has accepted being unhealthy. It may seem like a caring message to spread, but complacency is ultimately ones demise.

People like you are what's wrong with America. Nobody takes responsibility for the choices they make anymore and you are a good example. You chose to eat the calories, and your body looks like it. Your heart is working harder than it should be to keep you alive. Your bones are under tremendous stress because they have to support your weight. These problems don't happen in healthy adults. Why? They chose to eat healthy just like you chose to not eat healthy. There was a skinny person inside at one point, you just chose to be fat instead
